  • About Alpha Omicron Pi at Michigan State University

Alpha Omicron Pi is an international women's fraternity promoting friendship for a lifetime, inspiring academic excellence and lifelong learning, and developing leadership skills through service to the fraternity and community.

Being a part of Alpha Omicron Pi is a special, life-changing experience that lasts a lifetime. With AOII, our members have a place to call home, a place to find their closest friends, and a place to be themselves.

As the Beta Gamma chapter of AOII, we pride ourselves on sisterhood. Through our diverse personalities and interests, we are able to strenghten our bonds of friendship while remaining true to our own identities. Alpha Omicron Pi encourages each member to recognize what is unique in each of us, to develop our individual talents, and to be proud of our differences.

Philanthropy Event: Strike Out Arthritis and Catwalk for a Cure

One of the founding principles of Alpha Omicron Pi is to be of service to others - to bring into the world around us a spirit of love, not for self-glory, but as an opportunity to give something back to our communities. Alpha Omicron Pi’s international philanthropy supports arthritis, juvenile arthritis, and related diseases.  Arthritis Research was chosen because it’s the nation's leading cause of disability. Since adopting Arthritis Research as its international philanthropy in 1967, Alpha Omicron Pi has raised millions of dollars for grants and research.

The Beta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi holds two events each school year to raise money and awareness for the Arthritis Foundation. Each fall we hold our annual "Strike Out Arthritis" dodge ball tournament and in the spring we host a fashion show, "Catwalk for a Cure.”

Apart from these main events, the ladies of Beta Gamma volunteer with a variety of organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House, the Humane Society, and Habitat for Humanity; as well as participate in various non-Greek and Greek Community activities and organization's philanthropy events on and off campus.
